ruCongratulations to the team of Spanish startup Impress for successfully closing its Series B round, raising $125 million. Impress is a startup in the field of so-called invisible orthodontics, developing transparent aligners, an alternative to braces. The aligners are personalized with AI-assisted 3D scanning for each patient to trigger the gradual movement of the teeth to the desired position. The methodology combines traditional treatment with the latest technology, individualized app-based digital monitoring 24/7 from anywhere, and a qualified medical team. In just three years, the company has expanded its network of clinics to over 130 cities in eight European countries.
Impress was founded by orthodontist Dr. Khaled Kasem and serial entrepreneurs Diliara and Vladimir Lupenko in 2019 in Barcelona. TA Ventures and our club were among the first to pay attention to the startup, so we are incredibly pleased to see its success story. It started at the seed stage in 2020 when the team raised its first $5 million. A year later, the startup announced it had closed a $50 million Series A round. As you might have noticed, the good news didn't end there. The startup shows solid business, scalability, and fundraising for the third year. Not surprisingly, investors trust the team.
Impress has carved out a niche in such a complex field as healthcare. Moreover, the startup develops hardware and software products simultaneously, making it much more challenging to operate internally. If that's not impressive enough, add the cherry on the cake in the form of its own network of offline clinics. None of this embarrasses the team, which is confident and knows what to do.
According to one of the startup founders, Vladimir Lupenko, in an article on TechCrunch, they've created an absolutely new orthodontic experience powered by tech. All the processes are fully digitalized thanks to Impress' own product and software. He added that the accomplishment would not have been possible without close contact between the patients and the medical team. This is the only way to understand their needs and expectations.
What more to add, we are proud of the team and wish them further success in their excellent work.
